Pacific Rim 最終成果発表会を12/5にアートテークで開催
多摩美術大学が米国のArt Center College of Designと2006年より実施している国際協働教育プロジェクト”Pacific Rim”が9月から本学で行われており、このたびその成果発表会を開催いたします。13回目となる今回のプロジェクトは「Taste Making Tokyo」というテーマのもと、食の文化的・社会的・儀礼的側面を切り口として、デザインが食にどのような影響を与えるのかを追及してきました。フィールドリサーチでは名古屋・京都・奈良・直島・高松を訪れ、それぞれの食の側面に触れることで日本における古今の豊かな食の伝統を学び、現代社会における課題を探求しました。調理器具、テーブル上の食器、照明や周囲の家具などのデザインは食事という経験にどのような影響を及ぼすのでしょうか。日米をはじめ多様な背景を持つ両大学の学生がチームとなり、様々な学びを得ながら今日のグローバル市場を想定した新たなデザインの考案に取り組みました。その成果を是非ご覧になってください。
We are pleased to announce the final presentations of the 2018 Pacific Rim collaboration between Tama Art University and Art Center College of Design. In this project, on the theme of “Taste Making Tokyo”, we explored how does design influence your experience of the meal, considering cultural, social and ritual aspects of dining. Through the research trip to Nagoya, Kyoto, Nara, Naoshima and Takamatsu, we learned each aspect which relates to Japanese rich culture of food tradition, and searched issues in the society today. How does each element—from the utensils to the bowl to the table, lighting & surroundings—influence your experience of the meal? Students from both institute, various background have been trying to design new tableware, lighting & furnishings for dining for a global market. One of the goals of the project was to help the students achieve a practical and theoretical understanding of global design through cooperation as an international team.
